Assistant Print Designer
White Stuff was established in 1985 through a simple idea. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB
This position will work closely with the Design and Buying team, assisting in creating innovative prints for Womenswear and additional departments with admin support.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Assisting with trend and print research for our key stories
- Supporting the wider team finalize and prepare designs ready for print presentation and sign off
- Creating workable repeats and colourways
- Print development, including working on designs set by a brief as well as some self-driven, autonomous design work
- Preparing designs and colourways ready to send out to suppliers/factories
- Ability to look after smaller product areas - designing and/or reworking prints from Womenswear main-range
- Department specific admin such as creating print pages for stories, updating pattern/colour boards, strike off comments and general organising for the team
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Relevant commercial experience working for a print studio, supplier or another retailer in a similar role
- Experience of working in a high output environment and work at pace
- Resilient, pro-active and able to work creatively autonomously when needed.
- Excellent CAD skills on Photoshop and in Illustrator
- A good sense of colour.
- Experience of re-colouring, creating colourways and interesting repeats/placements
- Excellent organizational skills
- A portfolio that shows your unique and diverse handwriting as well as Illustrator skill.
- Ability to work well under pressure and multi task
- A clear understanding of printing processes
- Experience designing for embroidery/ embellishment/ accessories is a bonus!
